The new Ysgol Rhyd Y Llan Primary School, Llanfaethlu, on the Isle of Anglesey was officially opened, on the 9th of November 2017, by Kirsty Williams AM, the Cabinet Secretary for Education for the National Assembly of Wales.
The new primary is an amalgamation of three schools. It brings together over 120 pupils, aged between 4 and 11. The new pupils have been enjoying their new environment since the start of the new term in September and are making excellent use of the school facilities.
The children came together to perform a number of songs, with musical accompaniment from their class mates, to celebrate the opening of the school.
The new £4.5m school benefits from the latest facilities and resources, including modern and well equipped classrooms and suitable outdoor areas for play and learning. The project has been part funded by the Welsh Government through the 21st Century Schools Programme.
The school uses the ModCell Core straw bale panel system for all its external walls. The walls are finished in a range of surface materials. These include Rockclad Lines boards cladding, render and natural Welsh slate work. The combination of the finishes offer pleasing aesthetics to the building, whilst blending in to the beautiful surroundings of Anglesey.
